Operatives of the Dragon Patrol Team of the Delta State police command on August 5, 2021 at about 1830hrs, at Aladja road arrested a suspected armed robber, Henry Godwin, 30.
The patrol team had intercepted a Daylong motorcycle, with registration number GE 225 UT, on which were three young men, including the suspect.
On sighting the police, the suspects jumped off from the motorcycle and tried to escape; but one of them, Godwin, was arrested.
When he was searched, one locally-made gun and two live cartridges were recovered from him.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, said a manhunt for the fleeing suspects is ongoing.
Operatives of the command, on the same day at about 1030hrs while on stop-and-search duty along Agbor/Urhonigbe road also intercepted one blue TVS tricycle with registration number AFZ 716 YN, with two occupants.
According to Bright, on sighting the police, one of the occupants jumped off and escaped into a nearby bush, while one Sunday Nwite, 26, was arrested.
On interrogation, the suspect confessed that they stole the tricycle from where it was parked somewhere in Sapele and were on their way to Asaba to sell it.
Again, on August 7, 2021 at about 0930hrs, the Safer Highway patrol team 018 of the command stationed along the Agbor Alifikede boundary between Delta and Edo states intercepted and arrested one Samuel Ikpi, 28, and Eunice Samuel, 25, who claimed to be the wife of the first suspect.
One locally fabricated revolver pistol and a locally made shotgun with two cartridges were recovered from them.
Other items recovered from them include five android phones, power bank, 25 SIM cards of different networks, and one Hp laptop.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is a member of the Aro-Barger Confraternity,” the police spokesman said.
Also, during a raid on suspected drug dealers’ hideout in Ozoro community, on August 5, two suspects: Elo Edinburh and Joy Edinburh (both female) were arrested.
Items recovered from them includes 700 wraps of substance suspected to be Indian hemp, 29 wraps of loud, one packet of loud, 33 ties of cocaine ice, six pieces of moly hard drugs, two sachets of tramadol, 13 capsules of swinol, and 14 packets of Rizlers.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State command, Ari Muhammed Ali, has urged members of the public to continue to partner with the police by giving timely and useful information that could help in tackling crime and criminality in the state.
