Police teams were said to have stormed the hideout of the group following intelligence gathered on their plan.
The spokesman of the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, confirmed this in a statement he issued on Sunday
Officers had received information that members of Aiye Confraternity (a.k.a Black Axe) were carrying out an initiation in the bush at Onicha-Ugbo community in Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.
He also announced that there would be restriction of movement around Isoko South Local Government area from Friday 10th September 2021 by 0000hours to Saturday 11th September 2021 by 1600hours.
The patrol team had intercepted a Daylong motorcycle, with registration number GE 225 UT, on which were three young men, including the suspect.
The command said it received information from concerned residents that a child was seen roaming around a church premises in Asaba, and the Commander Eagle Net Special Squad detailed operatives to the scene and the child was brought to the station.
During investigation, according to the command’s spokesman, DSP Edafe Bright, it was discovered that the suspect is a Nollywood producer who hired the weapons for film production.
Spokesman for the command, DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the attack in a statement, said the hoodlums lobbed Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) at the station and shot sporadically, before setting the police station and the police ablaze.
He also urged members of the public to assist and collaborate with the police and other security agencies by being security-conscious and taking appropriate measures towards personal protection, not only at home but also in public places such as markets, worship centres, shopping malls and highways.
The suspects: Saturday Idoge; Sunday Ishenive and Philip Ngbodi, all staff of Alert Private Security Company attached to the PPMC/Refinery Warri, were caught vandalising armoured cables and other electrical installations in the Warri Refinery complex.
According to the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, the assault was led by members of the Eagle-NET special squad and civilian Anti-Cult Unit.
