The Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, and the Minister of Health, Dr. Chukwu Onyebuchi, on Thursday failed to attend a meeting organized by the House of Representatives to find a lasting solution to the ongoing doctors’ strike.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Hon. Ndidi Elumelu, who waited endlessly for both Onyebuchi and Okonjo-Iweala to resolve the issue, postponed the meeting until further notice.
Elumelu lamented that the ministers were not interested in resolving the crisis.
Although, the Minister of Labour, Emeka Wogu, and the leadership of the Nigeria Medical Association attended the scheduled meeting, it was adjourned till further notice due to the absence of both the Ministers of Finance and Health.
