2019: Avoid legislators who will fight executives, governor tells electorate

Governor Mohammed Bindow of Adamawa on Tuesday urged the electorate to avoid voting in legislators that would fight the executive.
Bindow gave the advice while receiving a cross section of Shelleng community who paid him a thank you visit in Yola.
The governor stressed the need for all the three arms of government to work in harmony for the growth and development of the society.
He commended the Adamawa State House of Assembly for their productive synergy which has earned the state a tremendous developmental stride.
He said: “I enjoy a good working relationship with the legislators and I am appealing to you to avoid voting in legislators that will fight executives.
“Where fighting persists, there cannot be development.”
He commended the people of Shelleng Local Government for supporting his administration.
He promised the community that he would build a befitting palace for their chief as well as construct a prison in the area.
Earlier, Alhaji Mohammed Abdullahi, The ‘Amna Shelleng ‘(paramount ruler of Shelleng chiefdom) said the visit was to thank the governor for the construction of a 37-kilometre road linking Kiri and Shelleng.
Abdullahi said that the gesture was unprecedented as Bindow was the first governor to address the major problem of the people.
The chief assured the governor of unflinching support for his administration.
In his remark, Alhaji Isa Shaaban, Chairman of the local government, said that the newly constructed road would boost the economy of the area.
Shaaban said that the people of Shelleng were overwhelmed with the provision of the road, adding the governor had “brought them out of desert”.
