Abubakar, in a statement personally signed by him in Abuja on Friday, described Joda as great Nigerian and first generation of Adamawa State indigenes who made immense contribution to growth of the state and the country.

Family sources told Daily Trust that he died at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola, Adamawa State capital, on Friday, and that arrangements for his burial are currently ongoing.

In a statement by Major Haruna Mohammed Sani, Assistant Director Army Public Relations, the Army said no single protester was killed; rather that the soldiers who dispersed the protest fired teargas and warning shots into the air “as some of the non-violent means of crowd dispersal and to further prevent own troops from being lynched by the mob.”

A statement on Monday by Paul Ibe on behalf of the Media Office said the portal  ( had been set up by some unscrupulous elements with identity forgery of the former Vice President of Nigeria and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
