The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, while making the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government on Monday in Abuja, congratulated the Muslim faithful on this occasion and called on all Nigerians, at home and abroad, to use the period of this year’s celebration to pray for peace, stability and economic transformation in the land

Speaking at the maiden edition of the Diaspora Quarterly Lecture Series with Ecobank as the sole banking partner which took place on Saturday, 8th May, 2021, he noted that Ecobank remains a critical bridge for Nigerians abroad, as it has made huge investments in the necessary platforms to enable them connect with home seamlessly.  The event held online and had over 2000 participants from across all the continents in attendance.

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, announced this in a statement by the Director of Press and Public Relations in the Ministry, Mohammed Manga, on Tuesday in Abuja.

As much as this sounds very petty, very insignificant and at best diversionary, the instigator, from all intent and purposes, is the government, led by AbdulRahman AbduRazaq, the governor. The question people ask is: what is the motive in this policy from AbdulRazaq as he deliberately pollutes the peace of a people who had worn their religious identities inside their souls, rather than on their lapels, for ages?
