The Ekiti State Police Command on Sunday said it has put in place security arrangements to ensure hitch-free presidential campaigns in the state.
President Goodluck Jonathan and General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd), the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress, are due in the state on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively for campaign.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Babayemi, in Ado Ekiti, said the state command had put in place comprehensive security arrangements, in partnership with sister security agencies to ensure that the visits are successful and hitch-free.
The statement added: “Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, Taiwo Lakanu appeals to political leaders, their supporters and members of the public to cooperate and assist security agencies by conducting themselves in orderly manner and acting within the confines of the law, in order to ensure hitch-free rallies by the two presidential candidates.”
The statement said there will be diversion of traffic at places such as Little by Little Junction, Ijigbo Roundabout, Atikankan Area, Oke Ese/Okesa/Ereguru Roundabout, Okeyinmi/First Bank Roundabout, Post Office Roundabout and Dallimore Junction.
“Road users are therefore enjoined to make use of alternative routes between 0600 hours and 1800hours on these days,” the statement added.
