The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated the new Emir of Kano, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi on his inauguration after the initial goof.
Sequel to announcement on twitter, the ruling party had congratulated the first son of the late Emir, Alhaji Sunusi Ade Bayero, and had to withdraw it when it dawned on the leadership that the former CBN Governor is the new Emir.
In the latest statement, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, assured the new Emir that the party would accord him the deserved respect.
However, Metuh expressed hope that Sanusi would also stay clear of partisan politics like his predecessor, late Alhaji Ado Bayero.
He also urged him to immediately embark on steps aimed at uniting his people, while calling for calm among the protesting youths.
“The PDP holds the office of the Emir of Kano in very high esteem. We therefore give the new Emir our prayers and urge him to ensure that the sanctity of the throne and the traditional institution are absolutely guarded and preserved.
“We are very much aware that his status has changed and we pray the Almighty Allah, who alone confers authority, to grant him the wisdom and good health to lead his people to peace and prosperity,” Metuh said.
