The Independent National Electoral Commission has tentatively fixed February 20 to conduct supplementary poll in Pankshin North and Pankshin South State constituency of Plateau State.
Osaretin Imahiyereobo, a Deputy Director of the commission, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Jos that the date was tentative.
Imahiyereobo said the poll would hold in Nyelleng polling unit in Pankshin North and Pyabor polling unit in Pankshin South respectively.
Imahiyereobo, however, said a re-run election would be conducted in Langtang South to cover the entire state constituency.
NAN recalled that INEC declared invalid the certificates of return earlier issued three Plateau lawmakers in the April 2015 general election.
Those affected were Mwansat Istifanus (PDP-Pankshin South), Alice Dimlong (APC- Pankshin North) and Vincent Bulus (PDP Langtang South).
INEC invalidated the lawmakers’ certificates of return following the judgment of the Jos Court of Appeal which nullified their elections on December 5.
In the case of Langtang South, the Appeal Court nullified the results of the entire state constituency on the ground that the candidate was an ex-convict who was not qualified to stand for the election.
