Chelsea new-boy Davide Zappacosta’s stunning goal against Qarabag provoked a brilliant reaction from Victor Moses.
The right-back – who sealed a £23m deadline day move from Torino – made his full debut in the Champions League clash last night.
And he grabbed the headlines after scoring from an incredible distance on the wing – although it looked more like it was meant as a cross.
Zappacosta’s team-mate Moses was watching from the bench as his full-back rival scored.
The sight clearly made the Nigerian fear for his starting place, as he was filmed holding his head in his hands.
Willy Caballero and David Luiz – sitting alongside Moses – were also seen joking with the 26-year-old.
The Italian has now admitted the goal was a fluke and that he had actually intended it as a cross.
But Antonio Conte’s comments on the summer signing will do nothing to allay the fears of Moses.
“He played a really good game, now he has to continue to improve,” he said.
“For sure he knew my style of football, that’s why I started with him.
“He played very well, it was the first appearance for him at Stamford Bridge. The answer was very good.”
