President Muhammad Buhari on Sunday morning signed the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement.
The agreement was signed by Buhari in Niger Republic during a meeting of the African Union.
The meeting was the 12th Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of the Union on AfCFTA and the First Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union and the Regional Economic Communities.
Nigeria had foot dragged in the signing of the agreement.
President Buhari said this was to ensure its full benefit to Nigeria and Nigerians.
