Anambra governorship poll: Nwoye humiliates Andy Uba in APC’s primary

Tony Nwoye has been declared the winner of the Anambra State governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress.
The 42-year-old medical doctor and politician scored 2,146 votes to beat his closest rival and businessman, Andy Uba, who came a distant second with 931 votes.
The Borno State Governor, Kashim Shetrima, announced the results in Awka on Sunday after the election, which many had thought would be a keen contest among the 11 aspirants on the platform of the APC for the November 18 governorship election.
However, it turned an anti-climax, with Uba being humiliated.
Nwoye, a member of House of Representatives (Anambra East/West Constituency), was a student union activist before becoming a politician.
He was born a twin in Onitsha on September 13, 1974 to Chief Lawrence and Mrs. Christiana Nwoye of Offianta Nsugbe in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State.
He attended Metropolitan Secondary School, Onitsha for his secondary education, from where he proceeded to study medicine at the University of Nigeria Nsukka College of Medicine.
In 2006, Nwoye became the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Anambra State.
Nwoye was also a former governorship candidate on the platform of the PDP for the 2013 election in Anambra State.
In December 2003, he was elected the National President of the National Association of Nigeria Student.
