Dr. Alex Egbona, the member representing Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency of Cross River State was on Sunday declared the winner of the February 25 House of Representatives election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Chike Ekeopara, made the declaration at Ugep, headquarters of the Federal Constituency.
Ekeopara said Egbona polled the highest number of votes to emerge winner.
He said Egbona of the All Progressives Congress polled a total of 20,482, while his closest rival, Eko Atu of the Peoples Democratic Party got 13,471 votes.
The Labour Party candidate, John Ifere, came a distant third with a little above 10,000 votes.
Responding, Egbona said he was thankful to God and the people of the Federal Constituency for the confidence reposed in him.
He dedicated the victory to God and to all the women, youths and supporters of the reelection project.
He said he would do much more for the people as he returns to the National Assembly.
