A suspected Boko Haram terrorist, Adamu Nuhu, was arrested by troops on Sunday at Kwaya Kusar Local Government Area in northern Borno, according to a statement by the Nigerian Army spokesman, Colonel Sani Usman.
Usman said on Monday that the arrest of the suspect followed tip off, adding: “Nuhu is currently being interrogated.”
Usman said: “Similarly, at about 5.43 p.m. yesterday – Sunday, three women suspected to be spouses of wanted Boko Haram terrorists and logistics suppliers were arrested at Miringa market by vigilante members in the town.”
He added the vigilante members had handed the women to troops and were also being investigated.
In a related development, Usman said that troops of 33 Brigade, Nigerian Army, deployed at Forward Operation Base, Bauchi killed five suspected kidnappers at Dutsen Makurd in Ningi Local Government Area.
He said that killing followed an exchange of gunfire between the suspects and troops.
According to the army spokesman, three Dane guns and other dangerous weapons were recovered from the suspects.
