The Coalition for Truth and Justice in an open letter dated November 30, signed by its National Coordinator, Chief Charles Timothy, and addressed to President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, and copied President Muhammadu Buhari, Minister of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said it found the resolution strange, unwholesome and abuse of the extant procedures of the Armed Forces of Nigeria Act 2004 and a subtle attempt to usurp the functions of the Armed Forces Council and the Nigerian Army Council.
The call was made by the upper chamber’s Ad Hoc Committee on Alleged Misuse, Under Remittance and Other Fraudulent Activities in Collection, Accounting, Remittance and Expenditure of Internally Generated Revenue by Agencies of Government.
This was sequel to a motion on: “The Passing on of Former Vice President, Dr Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme (1932-2017),” sponsored by Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, at plenary.
The Senate had scheduled the debate of the budget for Wednesday and Thursday of this week
