In a peaceful protest to the House of Representatives on Thursday, the people urged the government to put an end to the incessant killings and attacks in the community by suspected herdsmen.
This was sequel to a motion entitled “Urgent call for concerted Diplomatic Action to stop the recurring killings of Nigerians in South Africa” by Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha at plenary.
Moving the motion earlier, Adaji had pointed out that democracy which Nigeria operated was anchored on respect for the rule of law.
Leading the debate, Galadima expressed worry that PENCOM investment power in the recent past had been subjected to gross abuse without compliance with the provisions of the Public Procurement Act of 2007.
The apex bank made the disclosure at a public hearing organised by House of Representatives’ Ad hoc Committee investigating the state of the nation’s refineries, their turn-around maintenance to date and regular/modular licensed refineries.
The sponsor of the bill, Hon. Jarigbe Agom, who led the debate, said when passed into law, the bill would assist in extending infrastructure in existing universities.
He also declared that the action of the perpetrators of the act was an attack on the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, not only the National Assembly.
The members bared their minds at plenary after the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, read the president’s letter informing the House of the expenditure in respect of Super Tucano aircraft purchase agreement with the U.S. Government.
This was sequel to a unanimous adoption of a motion by the Chief Whip, Hon. Alhassan Doguwa, at the plenary.
The president had said that the amendment to the sequence of the elections in section 25 of the Principal Act may infringe on the constitutionally-guaranteed discretion of Independent National Electoral Commission to organise and supervise all elections.
The party made the commendation in a statement on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in Abuja.
Dogwa dropped this hint while speaking with newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja, adding that the All Progressives Congress was already strategising on how to win the election.
This followed a motion by Hon. Femi Fakeye who expressed concern over allegations of malpractice in the market.
The House also urged the Federal Government to guard against further abduction and insecurity in the North-East.
The Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee, Hon. Garba Datti, made the call at a news briefing in Abuja, saying the fund should only be released after the conclusion of the committee’s investigation.
The committee said, though N1.6 billion was released for the purpose, only N1.8 million was utilised with the balance of over N1.42 billion largely unaccounted for.
