The former Delta State Chairman of the United Peoples Party, Johnfreeman Chiadikabia, on Sunday described the roles played by the chieftains of the All Progressives Congress before, during and after the emergence of former Governor Bukola Saraki as Senate President as political recklessness
The UPP stalwart said the unruliness started from the absurdity that surrounded the formation of the Unity Forum, which teamed up with the Peoples Democratic Party and other political parties in the Senate to deliver Saraki.
Speaking in Asaba, the former UPP helmsman said the fraternity between Saraki and the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, points to the fact that the Assembly election would topple the APC.
According to Chiadikabia, the initial logjam between the ruling APC and President Muhammadu Buhari on the Assembly leadership had heralded victory for Saraki.
He said: “APC, which abandoned its lawmaking responsibility to be at the International Conference Centre, is not prepared to govern Nigeria and its people and before 2019, APC shall give way for another strong opposition party to emerge and take over the governance of Nigeria.”
Chiadikabia, who claimed the same disagreement is likely to occur when President Buhari wants to constitute his cabinet, said the APC leaders and other National Assembly members should not heat up the polity but should allow Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, to give the Assembly good leadership.
He said: “It is good for them to accept Saraki. There is no need going to court. In fact, it would be suicidal. What the party leaders were supposed to do initially is what they have done to now by settling the matter internally instead of the threat of going to court and contradictory statements.”
