Mountain moving prayers were few minutes ago released on Nigeria by thousands of the Peoples Democratic Party women from across the South South geopolitical zone.
The women, since Sunday, trooped into Asaba, the Delta State capital, in their hundreds, from Akwa-Ibom, Edo, Rivers, Cross-River, Bayelsa and Delta State localities.
They have since converged at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, for the prayer summit, raising their voices in supplication to God for the political logjam in the South South zone and the country at large.
The prayer summit, led by Deaconess Roli Oritshenere Uduaghan, the wife of the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, tagged: Oh Lord, heal our land, acknowledged that the country was going through tribulation and needed to be purged of its iniquities.
The South South Woman Leader of the PDP, Elizabeth N. Essien, flanked by her Edo State Senatorial Woman Leader, Eghe Soaroe, who said the prevailing charged political atmosphere in the country portends a death-defying scenario, urged the great physician (Jesus Christ) to look with mercy upon Nigerians and heal the country of its infirmities.
While she prayed God to defend His name in the affairs of the country, Deaconess Uduaghan said there is no gainsaying that the six South South states, including its peoples and government, are of the Lord’s.
Relying on some scriptural passages and narrating how God used David to deliver his people from Goliath, coupled with how He gave victory to Judah when rival nations rose against it and Jehoshaphat cried to God for help on behalf of his people, the wife of the governor prayed to God to calm the troubled seas in Nigeria, silencing the enemies of country.
The First Lady, who prayed to God against criminal vices – kidnapping, armed robbery, bombing of innocent citizens, houses of God, tourist centres, headquarters of local government areas, among others – said: “Heaven will only help those who help themselves”.
She urged the women to pray ceaselessly for the country and those God has placed it affairs in their hand.
She urged those seeking political power by all means to summit themselves to will of God.
According to her: “The Lord is the earth and its fullness and all the things that dwell in it (Psalms 24:1).
“Power belongs to God hence He gave all authority in heaven and on earth to His beloved son, in whom He is well pleased.”
