No fewer than 24 rooms have been destroyed and scores of families rendered homeless as fire gutted a police barracks near Obalende in Lagos Wednesday morning.
Although, the cause of the fire could not be immediately ascertained as at the time of filling this report, eyewitness accounts said several residents of the barracks had been rendered homeless following the fire.
Many residents were feared injured while it could not also be ascertained whether the incident has also claimed lives.
Fire fighters from the Lagos State Fire Service are currently struggling to put out the fire while reinforcements had been sent for from Sari-Iganmu Station of the fire service.
But confirming the early morning fire, the Director of Fire Service, Mr Rasak Fadipe, said a total of 24 rooms were destroyed in the inferno.
