No fewer than 33 governorship aspirants have indicated interest in the May 5, All Progressive Congress primaries in Ekiti, an official has said.
Taiwo Olatubosun, the state Publicity Secretary of the party, disclosed this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeriain Ado-Ekiti, adding that aspirants were those who scaled through the party screening for the primaries.
Olatubosun said: “We have four categories of delegates for the primaries namely; delegates from each of the 117 wards of the state, those from the 16 Local Government Areas, as well as members of the State Executive.There are also statutory delegate.”
According to Olatubosun, the party has made adequate arrangement to ensure that the event is hitch- free.
He said: “We have no doubt that our party will conduct free, fair and credible primary election, there is nothing to worry about.
‘’We have informed our party leaders at the National Secretariat that, no form of impersonation will be tolerated.”
Olatubosun, however, urged all aspirants to base their campaign on issues not on blackmail, warning that aspirants who engaged in any form of bad utterances, blasphemy or ridicule would be sanctioned.
