Uncommon acclamation has trailed the first phase of the MTN Foundation Y’ello Doctor Mobile Medical Intervention Scheme.
The mobile clinic is stocked with medical consumables and drugs and is designed to provide ready access to maternal and child healthcare services, as well as tips on prevention of communicable/non-communicable diseases.
The Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has joined millions of Nigerians to hail the corporate social responsibility of the network provider, especially at getting health care services to the rural populace.
While Uduaghan said the task of getting health care delivery to the interior parts of the county remains “a must achieved in Nigeria”, he explained that there are so many people in the rural areas of the country that cannot reach proper medical healthcare.
The governor, alongside the Executive Secretary of the MTN Foundation, Nonny Ugboma, explained further that his administration embarked on free rural health scheme and other health programmes to ensure that all Deltans, no matter where they are, have access to quality healthcare.
Speaking on Monday in Asaba, the Delta State capital, at the formal handover of an ultra-modern mobile clinic under the first phase of the MTN Foundation Y’ello Doctor Mobile Medical Intervention Scheme to the oil rich state, the governor stressed that getting quality medical healthcare to the rural communities has come on stream.
He said: “One of the challenges people at the rural communities face is quality healthcare and this mobile clinic will give a great boost to our rural healthcare programmes.
“In Delta State, we take rural healthcare and everything that concerns healthcare delivery very seriously. We have a mobile hospital and we want to assure you that the state government will give you all the necessary support for our people to benefit maximally from this initiative.”
