Three students remanded over alleged murder, cult membership

An Abeokuta, Ogun State Magistrate’s Court on Thursday remanded three students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, in prison custody over alleged murder and belonging to a secret cult.
The accused persons, who are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, murder and belonging to a secret cult, are Rasaq Olajide, 25; Ishola Badmus, 29; and Temitope Adeoye, 26.
The Magistrate, Emmanuel Adekunte, ordered that the three accused persons be remanded in Oba Prisons and adjourned the case till February 7 for mention.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Augustine Ozimini, told the court that the offences were committed on October 6 at about 6pm at Somorin Obantoko in Abeokuta.
Ozimini said that the trio, who belonged to a secret cult, murdered one Idowu Bayonle (Dodogba), another alleged cultist, by cutting him into pieces with machetes.
Ozimini said the alleged offences contravene Sections 324, 319 (1), and 516 of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006 and Section 5 of Secret Cult Law of Ogun State, 1999.
