The appellate Court, while delivering judgement in the appeal brought before it by the Edo State House of Assembly, dismissed the appeal seeking to uphold Shaibu’s impeachment.

Justice James Omotosho fixed the date following two motions on notice filed by the state’s Attorney General (AG) and House of Assembly by their lawyers, Oluwole Iyamu, SAN, and Ken Mozia, SAN, respectively.
The Command’s Commissioner, Funsho Adegboye, said this on Monday while giving an update into the investigation.
Also expelled was the National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the party, Chief Dan Orbih.
Impeached Shaibu was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party alongside Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The Edo State House of Assembly had early on Monday impeached the embattled Deputy Governor of the state.
This was coming on the heels of the impeachment of the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, by the state House of Assembly on Monday.
Shaibu said this through his lawyer at the panel’s maiden sitting on Wednesday in Benin.
Shaibu said this while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Saturday.
He defeated other aspirants in a peaceful but security-tight primaries at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin
According to him, he joined the Edo Governorship race to stop schemes by vested interests to return power to businessmen.
The declaration on Monday came despite the opposition of Governor Godwin Obaseki to Shaibu’s ambition.
He made this known to newsmen on Sunday in Abuja as he kicked off his campaign for the upcoming election.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports the event is expected to be a gathering of both past and present Nigerian athletes.
In a letter titled, “Re: Public Apology By The Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu,” the governor said in good faith, he trusts that the public apology as expressed by Shaibu is genuine and followed by contrite steps to improve his conflict resolution skills.
The Deputy Governor tendered the apology when he spoke with newsmen on Thursday at his residence in Benin.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Shaibu has been at loggerheads with Gov. Obaseki over his ambition to contest the forthcoming 2024 governorship election.
The new office is situated at 7 Dennis Osadebey Avenue, close to the Government House.
The match, played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, the Edo State capital, was played amidst tension.
Shaibu spoke as a former Governor of the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, said he is not wanted in the APC.
