The highly authoritative newspaper said it also learnt that the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, did not make any input into Maina’s reinstatement
The party made the call in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of its National Caretaker Committee, Dayo Adeyeye, on Monday in Abuja
Oyo-Ita’s position was contained in a statement she issued on Monday on the issue
This was disclosed by presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, on his Twitter handle on Monday
The Minister’s position was contained in a statement by his spokesman, Ehisienmen Osaigbovo
Uzoma said when she made an appearance on July 21, 2015 before Justice Kolawole to protest the EFCC’s claim that Maina was on the run when no charge had been served on him, was against the letters of the law
Maina has been declared wanted by the EFCC as he disappeared after the EFCC filed charges against him for stealing billions of pension funds through a phoney biometric exercise
Hon. Ibrahim Bawa Kamba (PDP, Kebbi), the House Committee Chairman on Pension Matters, lamented that the minister had ignored several letters sent to her to appear before the committee to explain how the pension fund is being spent
NAN reports that when the matter came up for adoption on Friday, Maina’s counsel, Mahmud Magaji, argued that the originating summon was the appropriate mode to commence the case
He also said that the matter before the court had generated a lot of public interest and would want to apply caution in determining the suit
The others are the Federal Civil Service Commission, Ministry of Interior, the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Senate, the Clerk of the Senate and the Clerk of the National Assembly

The menace of Maina has been doing the Nigerian circuit for months. He has been dodging and ducking every move to get him to regurgitate all he knows about the pension scam under his able watch. Anytime the dragnet closes in, Maina has the uncanny ability to develop wings and fly away
In his directive to the Permanent Secretary, Sali said that following the submission of a report from the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, to President Goodluck Jonathan of the inability of the Nigeria Police to locate Maina, it has become apparent that he has absconded from duty without leave
Maina had sought to stop the Senate from ordering his arrest
According to the presidential spokesperson, President Jonathan does not need to personally sack him, insisting that Maina, being a civil servant, could only be disciplined by the Head of Service of the Federation in line with laid down civil service rules
The Senate on Wednesday gave President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan 48 hours within which to sack Maina
This followed the bench warrant issued on him by the Senate through the Senate Pension Probe Committee and his subsequent declaration as wanted by the police
There was no time I was invited either verbally or in writing by the Nigeria Police for any reason whatsoever. Why the said declaration? I have useful addresses where such invitations could have been directed. It is after such invitation has been dishonoured can an order for my arrest be employed
