The House of Representatives on Wednesday gave its backing to the decision of the Senate calling for the sack of the Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, by President Goodluck Jonathan.
The Senate took its own decision last week.
About 24 hours after the Senate’s position was taken and a report of abandoning his duty post was submitted by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, on Maina to Jonathan, the President ordered the Head of Service of the Federation, Isa Sali, to take disciplinary measures against Maina.
The pension task team boss was accused of misappropriating over N100 billion pension fund, an accusation he has denied.
And though yet to surrender himself to the police or appear before the Senate as requested, the House of Representatives on Wednesday back the position of the Senate.
A motion to that effect said the House was “conscious of the need to present a common front with respect to the institutional integrity of the National Assembly.”
