Polls: Mbeki, Babangida, Abdulsalami in close doors meeting

Former South Africa President, Thabo Mbeki, was on Monday in a closed doors meeting with former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, on the forthcoming polls in the country.
Mbeki, it was learnt, arrived the residence of Babangida at the Hilltop Mansion in Minna, the Niger State capital, with another former Nigerian Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, late on Monday night.
It was gathered that some top politicians in the state were at Babangida’s home when the former South African president arrived.
But the meeting was held without any of the dignitaries present except Abubakar.
The visit was coordinated in a way that it was deliberately kept away from the media so as not to get media attention.
Only a few of Babangida’s close allies were present when Mbeki arrived his House.
The details of their discussion were not known but fillers had it that their meeting may not be unconnected with the forthcoming general elections in Nigeria and the need for peace in the country as being championed now by General Abubakar.
