The Kebbi State Police Command has nabbed one of the members of a gang that used to target cyclists with weapons in order to steal their motorcycles.
Mudasiru Haruna was arrested after he posed as a passenger, hired Aliyu Lawal, a cyclist, to take somewhere.
He then attacked him with a stone, leaving him unconscious along the road.
After attacking Lawal with the stone, Haruna took the motorcycle and sold it for paltry sum of money.
The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Magaji Kontagora, said: “On the 25th October, 2022 at about 2:30PM, Mudasiru Haruna, chattered a motorcyclist named Aliyu Lawal and while on transit, the suspect asked the motorcyclist to stop. “As a result, Lawal fell down unconscious, and Haruna took the motorcycle to Usman Alias, a charger and subsequently sold it to Lawali Gulma, now at large. In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime and that the sum of N 100,000, being the part payment of the sold motorcycle has been recovered. Investigation into the case is in progress.”
