Strong indications are rife that the South African Football Association has secretly opened transfer negotiations with Super Eagles’ handler, Stephen Keshi, as against the body’s denial on Monday.
Our impeccable source confirmed on Tuesday that the South Africans were among the four countries seeking for the services of the AFCON 2013 winning gaffer, stressing that SAFA’s representatives have shown tremendous interest.
The source said: “As we speak, Keshi has all the contractual offers on his mobile phone and he is keeping them close to his chest since he is still under contract with Nigeria.
“He (Keshi) is also conscious that revealing the offers on his table could stall the contractual talks that are currently going on.”
Meanwhile, the South African Football Association President, Dr. Danny Jordaan, in a statement made available to The Eagle Online on Tuesday, said the new Bafana Bafana coach will only be announced mid-July following due processes.
Jordaan said in the statement: “Keshi’s name is among various names that have been thrown around by the media. SAFA has not yet arrived at any decision regarding the appointment of the new Senior Men’s National Coach. That decision will be pronounced once the World Cup is over.”
