Ray Parlour has tipped Alex Iwobi to be a huge star at Arsenal while highlighting the youngster’s strengths and significantly what he needs to do to make sure that he fulfils his full potential at the club.
The former Arsenal defender has been particularly impressed this season with the 20-year-old Iwobi.
Parlour said: “He’s an up and coming star, he really is.
“I really like the way he plays and he deserves his spot at the minute.
“That’s what these youngsters have to do. I think Jack Wilshere was very similar when he first got into the first team, he was very hard to leave out in the end.
“That’s what you’ve got to do, give the manager a problem.
“I think with Alex, there are some top players on the bench that he’s keeping out at the minute and that’s credit to him.
“He’s got to keep working hard.
“He’s a youngster but he must be enjoying playing with the likes of Ozil, Sanchez, the midfield they’ve got in there.
“He’s improving all the time, he’s comfortable on the ball, he can see a pass. His footwork is excellent for a big lad.
“He’s done really well and he’s just got to keep his feet on the ground and keep working hard and I’m sure he’ll be a massive star for Arsenal.
“For his age, he’s matured so much as a player. Again, there are weaknesses there and he can work on them but what he’s shown so far…
“I think the most important thing is that he’s playing week in and week out and I think at the moment it’s hard for Arsene Wenger to leave him out.”
