Face-off with Akpabio: Constituency moves to recall Etok

Stakeholders of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State have passed a vote of no confidence on the senator representing the area, Dr. Aloysius Etok, on grounds of poor performance and lack of respect for the elders of the area. The stakeholders have also initiated the process of recall of the
embattled senator from the National Assembly.
This decision was reached after an enlarged meeting of the senatorial district convened by the Itai Afe Annang, Okuku Pius Affiong Eside, and chaired by the Chairman of the Senatorial District, Hon. Imo
Ibokette, at the Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area hall.
The stakeholders, including past and present National Assembly members, past and present House of Assembly members, commissioners from the area, past and present council chairmen, members of the
executive committees of the Peoples Democratic Party at all levels, traditional rulers, women and youths.
The stakeholders frowned at the poor performance of the senator and lack of respect for the state Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, and other elders of the senatorial district. They lamented that the embattled senator has failed to attract any constituency project to the area in the last six years.
After series of speeches by the stakeholders condemning the quality of representation by the senator, a motion for a vote of no confidence and his recall from the National Assembly was moved by Hon. Iboro
Ekanem from Ikono and seconded by Obong Okon Uwa from Ukanafun Local Government Area.
This was affirmed by all the stakeholders present.
