Former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Terhemen Tarzoor, polled 517 votes in the Benue State governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party to defeat his closest rival and sitting Deputy Governor, Steven Lawani, who scored 311 votes.
Former Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Samuel Ortom, came third with 111 votes.
The Chairman of the Electoral Panel, Ambassador Adamu Saidu Daura, announced the result.
At the election, held at the Aper Aku Stadium, Hon. Mathiase Oyigeya also scored four votes.
The result also had it that Vincent Aondoakaa scored 25 votes; Dr. A. Shijah, 3; Sam Odey, 48; and Engr. A. Chaver, 47.
