As the May 29 terminal date for the eight years administration of the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, draws near, entertainers have concluded plans to host a valedictory “Thank You Concert” in appreciation of his immense contribution to the entertainment industry.
According to the organisers, the eight years administration of Dr. Uduaghan witnessed an unprecedented human capital development in the nation’s entertainment industry.
According to a statement by the Coordinator of the concert, Ogude Akpobome, known on stage as Ogus Baba, made available to The Eagle Online in Asaba on Wednesday, the event, which is billed for March 4 at Grand Hotel, Asaba, will feature an array of celebrity entertainers of Delta State origin and their associates all over the world, who have benefited directly from the Uduaghan administration.
Akpobome said: “It was in Dr. Uduaghan’s administration that Asaba, the Delta State capital became renowned as the home of Nollywood.
“Today, Delta State has produced more than half of the number of entertainers in the country today.
“Many comedians have become rich and it is now one of the fastest employer of youths who have talents as humour merchants.
“This is why we said we should celebrate Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan as the best we have had in terms of developing human capital in the area of creative and performing talents.
“As far as we are concerned Dr. Uduaghan is the Best Entertainment Friendly Personality in the last decade.
“It was Governor Uduaghan who set the pace of appointing a career entertainer, who had no bearing in partisan politics into a political office as high as a Commissioner.”
Akpobome by this made allusions to Richard Mofe-Damijo, a two-term Commissioner in Uduaghan’s administration in-charge of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
Moreover, he noted that the Uduaghan administration has contributed immensely to the development of the entertainment industry through its Talent Quest and other nurturing programmes, where so many talents were discovered and brought to limelight.
