The Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, was on Monday denied access to his office and private room in the Government House.
This was not the only drama that occurred on Monday as Okowa resumed office.
The Accountant-General of the state, Cyril Agbele, who disappeared from office with his two deputies few days to the May 29 handover date, resurfaced as Okowa resumed work.
Okowa, accompanied by his wife, Dame Edith; his Deputy, Barrister Kingsley Otuaro; and some political associates and staff of the Directorate of Government House to an early morning devotion, was jolted when he was being conducted round the new Government House by the Permanent Secretary of the Government House, Benson Oburoh, and could not gain access to his office.
However, a top government functionary at the Government House was said to have whispered to the governor that the office was being renovated.
Some said Okowa could not access the office because “spiritual cleansing” had just been performed on it and that it would not be wise to lead the crowd into it.
