The Supervising Pastor of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide, Pastor Ademola Popoola, has called on the Federal Government to design a way its people can be transformed from within and forget about corporate change Nigerians are talking about.
Popoola said this while speaking with the newsmen in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Monday.
Popoola said it was impossible for all Nigerians to change over night but a transformation within will do the country a favour.
He said: “When you are transformed, it brings a change.
“You can say change, change but when individuals are not transformed, it could amount to a waste of time.
“My appeal to the Nigerian Government is to find a way people can be change from within.
“Corporate change cannot happen because all of us cannot change over night.”
Popoola said he wants the President to make relevant, religious leadership, adding that the political class are not doing well.
He said: “The political class has turned governing the country to making money.
“Many of them borrowed money to seek for offices so, when they assume office, the first thing they do is to pay back what they have invested.
“I think we should deemphasise money politics in Nigeria.
“Before independence, religious leaders used to be relevant.
“At least the laws of the nation are drawn from the Bible and Quran.
“So why are they driving religious leaders away?”
Popoola asked the government not to forget the relevance of traditional rulers because they are the closest to their people.
He said he won’t agree that because one of them is bad everyone of them is bad.
The cleric explained that anyone of them that is bad should be removed without further hesitation, while asking the government to find a way to get to those of them that are upright.
He challenged the Federal Government on food and shelter, saying it is only in Nigeria that you find a University of Agriculture without a farm.
Popoola said nothing stopped the Federal Government from having its own farm, employ unemployed youth, thereby providing food and employment at the same time.
He also asked the Federal Government to arrest anyone found spraying money at a party because he believes it encourages corruption.
