The Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday declared Alhaji Saidu Baba of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the bye-election into the Yobe State House of Assembly.
INEC had on Saturday conducted a bye-election to fill the vacant Nangere constituency seat, following the death of Hon. Adamu Degubi.
Degubi was killed by unknown gunmen in June 2012.
The INEC Returning Officer for the election, Malam Idris Yusuf, announced that Baba polled 14,360 votes to beat Shuaibu Ibrahim of the Peoples Democratic Party, who scored 7,851 votes.
The returning officer said 23,320 votes were cast, out of which 1,089 votes were invalidated.
