Young Moris, the Head of Operations of the Adamawa State Hunters Association, has been arrested for alleged sale of bullets.
Moris was arrested by a joint patrol team led by the renowned crime fighter, Ali Kwara, at Ngurore village in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Kwara told newsmen on Wednesday in Yola that Moris was arrested in a sting operation.
He said: “We were after a female gun runner in Taraba, who told us that she has two agents in Adamawa, including Moris.
“We used an undercover agent to contact Moris, who brought bullets for sale.”
Speaking to newsmen while he was being taken to the police headquarters, Moris said he was forced to sell bullets to generate money to maintain the association’s operational vehicle attached to him.
Morris, who described the incident as “unfortunate”, accused the incumbent administration in the state of not paying hunters the allowances due to them for the assistance they rendered in the fight against insurgency.
He claimed that the bullets he sold were the ones recovered from the insurgents.
“The bullets I sold are the spoils of war,” he said
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Othman Abubakar, said the police would soon brief the media on the incident.
