The Niger State Commissioner of Police, Desire Nsirim Diseye, on Wednesday called on hotel owners in the state to furnish her Command with information about suspicious characters so as to curtail armed robbers who use hotels as hideout.
Diseye said this during an interactive session with the Hotel Owners Association of Nigeria, Niger State chapter, at the Police Officers’ mess in Minna.
She said there is the need for partnership to ensure maximum security.
According to her: “We will ensure maximum security in the state and all hotels because security is for everybody, but if you hide criminals from us in your hotels, we will hold you responsible.
“Some of these criminals may come into Minna because of the forthcoming elections.
“You must report every incident of robbery to us.
“We have to come together to ensure that we don’t have any emergency during the 2015 elections.
“We cannot afford to allow criminals to infiltrate this state.
“Always be cautious with your guest and if they have anything the Police should know, please keep us informed.”
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Hotel Owners Association of Nigeria, Niger State chapter, Chief Friday Chime, informed Diseye that the challenge faced by the association is the nonchalant attitude of its members who fail to attend their meetings, adding that non documentation of guest is the bane of security in the state.
Over 70 hoteliers operating in Minna attended the session tagged: “Security with Hoteliers towards 2015 Elections.”
