The Lagos State Police Command on Thursday confirmed the death of an unidentified man said to be a Chinese.
The middle aged man was allegedly killed by suspected armed robbers on Wednesday about 10.03pm.
The deceased was with some Chinese ladies in his car when he was allegedly robbed and shot dead along the Lagos Island-Oworonsoki Expressway, few metres from the Lagos China Town.
It was gathered that the suspected armed robbers trailed the deceased in an unidentified car to the expressway.
The deceased had allegedly visited the Oriental Hotel at Lekki, Victoria Island, before he was shot dead.
The other occupants of the vehicle were lucky to be alive but sustained gunshot wounds.
Ngozi Braide, the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, said the police have begun investigation into the incident and the suspected armed robbers will soon be arrested.
Braide said: “The police is yet to identify the deceased but after the incident he and the two ladies in his company were rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital at Ikeja but he was pronounced dead.
“The two ladies are responding to treatment and the police have begun investigation into the incident.”
