The Coach of Lagos State basketball women’s team, Aderemi Adewunmi, has boasted that his team would not miss the gold in the ongoing 18th National Sports Festival, Eko 2012, having won the bronze at Rivers 2011.
Adewunmi said: “We have prepared well and we are ready for any level of opposition.
“We are the best team in the country today on current form and our players are equally confident. We are sure of winning the gold this time.
“We finished third at the last festival and since then, we have been preparing seriously towards having a better outing here more so that we are plying as host this time.
“We would take care of every opponent.”
He acknowledged that stiffer opposition awaits his team from states like Rivers, Ondo and FCT, Abuja, saying that his players would be up to the task.
“We know what Rivers can do as defending champions. They have a good team but there is no cause for alarm. Ondo and FCT teams are also good but as I said, this is our year,” opined ‘Owolo’, as he is fondly called.
It is recalled that Team Lagos lost to Team Rivers in the semi-final at the last edition of the Games in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
