5,600 beneficiaries to receive N10,000 monthly stipend from Zamfara — Official

A total of 5,600 beneficiaries have been registered by the Zamfara State Government to receive N10,000 each as monthly stipend under the state’s Social Intervention Programme.
The Secretary of the programme, Mubarak Magaji-Maradun, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Gusau.
Magaji-Maradun noted that the programme was one of Governor Bello Matawalle’s initiatives to reduce poverty and unemployment in the state.
He stated that the programme was aimed at empowering unemployed youth, women, small scale traders, widows and other needy people.
He said: “We have distributed application forms to 5,600 beneficiaries from the 14 local government areas of the state.
“In each of the 147 political wards of the state, we registered 40 beneficiaries.
“We have completed the issuance of application forms, hopefully we are going to commence the disbursement at the end of January 2020.”
According to him, the duration of the programme is two years.
Magaji-Maradun said: “After every two years we are going to graduate the beneficiaries of this programme and recruit new set.”
