The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus, on Thursday said other members of the National Working Committee will not resign their positions.
According to Secondus, unlike the Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, who resigned voluntarily on Wednesday, other NWC members would complete their terms as stipulated in the party’s constitution.
Prince Secondus disclosed this in chat with State House correspondents after a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan.
He also insisted that neither Mu’azu nor the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih, was forced to resign.
He said they did so voluntarily.
On his mission to the Presidential Villa, Secondus said he came to confer with the President who is the leader of the party.
His words: “You know that is not right, it is unconstitutional, because the chairman did that voluntarily and the BoT Chairman also did that voluntarily.
“Some of the others have tenures.
“At the end of our tenure if we are re-elected, fine, if not that is the right thing to do.
“There is no reason for us to resign because we have worked hard.
“I just came here to interact with our leader, Mr. President.
“We shall be sitting back to reorganize and then re-invent our party and to assure our teeming supporters and members that the party is intact without any problem.”
