We’re vindicated on Amaechi’s membership of APC – PDP

The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party says the open confession and resolve of Governor Chibuike Amaechi and the state’s lawmakers loyal to him while hosting the All Progressives Congress chieftains in Port Harcourt on Tuesday was an eloquent testimony that they had long decamped from the PDP.
The party, in a statement signed by Jerry Needam, the Special Adviser on Media to the Rivers State Chairman of the PDP, Felix Obuh, noted that the demand on Amaechi by the suspended lawmakers loyal to him and led by Hon. Otelemaba Dan Amachree for an immediate declaration for the APC is a mere camouflage to hoodwink Rivers State people into believing they are being wooed to join the party.
The statement described the formalization of the marriage between Governor Amaechi and his new found love, the APC, as a good development.
The party said this calls for thanksgiving by all men and women of goodwill in the state.
The PDP however regretted what it termed the factious and unseemly utterances and threat of bloodshed in the state by Amaechi.
It said he should he not be allowed to carry out his envisioned revolution.
The statement said: “Inasmuch, as we are a peaceful and law abiding people, we’ll not fold our hands watching a lunatic to take the entire state for a ride because of his inordinate ambition of ascending to the office of the Vice President as promised him by the APC.
“We therefore urge the state police commissioner and all the security agencies in the state and the country at large to keep a tap on Governor Amaechi and his cohorts to ensure nobody is taken unawares as he is plotting.
“The Party also states for the umpteenth time that no member of the PDP would have been at the airport today to receive the APC members, describing all the attendees as either APC members like their master, Amaechi or the rented crowd who were there to earn their pay.”
