Three APC Adamawa lawmakers defect to PDP

Three members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly have defected from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party.
The Members are: Hin. Wafarninyi Theman of Hong Constituency; Hon. Simon Issa of Song Constituency; and Hon. Abubakar Jarengol of Mubi North Constituency.
They announced their defection at the House plenary on Tuesday under matters of personal explanation.
The lawmakers, who were elected to the House on the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria and the Congress for Progressive Change, said they took the decision after due consultation with their respective constituencies during which they were advised to move to the PDP.
The Speaker of the House, Hon. Ahmadu Fintiri, described the movement as a welcome development.
“By this development, all the 25 members of this assembly are now PDP members,” Fintiri said.
Reacting to the defection, the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Adamawa State, Rev. Phineas Padio, said the development was normal but that it would not affect the chances of the APC in winning elections in the state.
“Let me make it clear that the movement of those lawmakers will not affect and can never affect the chances of APC in winning elections at all levels in the state, the APC being a grassroots party,” Padio said.
