The Speaker, who said the National Assembly was committed to the timely passage of the Appropriation Bill as it did in the last two years, noted that the next two to three months will be for the strictest scrutiny of the budget estimates and emphasized that lawmakers would hold government agencies accountable for the previously appropriated funds.

The nominees are Idaere Gogo Ogan – Chairman; Farouk A. Ahmed – Chief Executive Officer; Abiodun Adeniji – Executive Director, Finance and Accounts; and Ogbugo Ukoha – Executive Director, Distributions System, Storage and Retail Infrastructure.

In a live world press conference, the spokesperson for the coalition, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere said “The information at our disposal includes the alleged late night exchange of ‘incentives’ to most of the National Assembly members in the Harmonization Committee to see to it that the electronic transmission of results does not see the light of the day. This is an insult on the sensibilities and sensitivities of the Nigerian people, noting that this process of Electoral Act amendment commenced since 2016 and has not been completed five years after.”

The National Assembly had passed aggregate budget of N13.98 trillion for the 2022, but President Buhari in a revised MTEF/FSP, increased the budget aggregate to N16.45trillion.
