Andrew Kumapayi, Anambra Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Awka.

The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide, in a statement by the FRSC Public Education Officer in Lagos, Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi, said the assistance became imperative to save the life of the pregnant woman and the baby.

Dr Kayode Olagunju, the FRSC Zonal Commanding Officer, in charge of Plateau, Benue and Nasarawa, made this known in a statement by the acting Public Education Officer, Route Commander Olusegun Owoeye, in Jos.

The FRSC Sector Commander, Andrew Kumapayi, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Awka that the clampdown, which commenced on Thursday, was a national directive to clear the nation’s highways of rickety vehicles.

In a statement by Bisi Kazeem, the Corps Public Education Officer, the High Commissioner stated this during his visit to the national headquarters of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Abuja on Tuesday. According to him, Humphrey revealed that Namibia has found FRSC as a model to be domesticated in their country, noting that his visit was to find out what the FRSC has put in place to mitigate crashes in Nigeria that has led to massive reduction in deaths and injuries on the road, so as to replicate the success story in Namibia.
