The officials of Nigeria Correctional Service, who were in court to convey the embattled suspended Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, to their custody left without taking the defendant, on Tuesday.

The commission was reacting to a report that the Department for State Services, DSS stormed one of the commission’s offices and carted away files implicating the president and his close aides.

The DSS had on October 18, 2021 arraigned a teenager before the court on one count charge of cyber-stalking.

Relatedly, some respected legal personalities namely, Olisa Agbakoba SAN, Mike Ozekhome SAN and Femi Falana SAN opined that the Service operates outside its mandate especially with regards to the investigation of Godwin Emefiele.
DSS in a rebuttal titled: “DSS operates within its Mandate” written Tuesday by its Public Relations Officer, Dr Peter Afunanya also replied some senior Lawyers who accused the agency of operating outside its constitutional mandate, noting that the recent Court order obtained by Emefiele directing access to his counsels and family members was nothing to celebrate about, as the outfit has never denied the suspended CBN boss any access.
The suspect, Alasan Sabo, was arrested in Garun Gabas, two months after he set up a workshop in the town.
This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by the spokesperson for the secret police, Peter Afunanya.
Justice Hamza Muazu of the Court made the order Friday even as he emphasised that access is a constitutional right of Emefiele.
