Abel Diah, the Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, on Saturday commended President Muhammadu Buhari for assenting to the law granting financial autonomy to state Houses of Assembly.
Diah gave the commendation in a statement in Jalingo.
The Speaker noted that the move would guarantee the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
He said: “I wish to commend the President for assenting to the Law, I believe this will lead to a dynamic and active parliamentary democracy.
“Active parliamentary democracy is the fulcrum for the attainment of dividends of democracy to the people.
“I wish also to appreciate the leadership and members of the National Assembly, State Assemblies, and in particular, Taraba House of Assembly for the role they played in seeing to the reality of the law.
“With this law, democracy is actually gaining grounds and heading toward success for a better society.
“It is my sincere hope that the three arms of government will work in harmony for the growth of democracy in the country.”
According to Diah, the law is a pathway to true democratic practice in the country for a better society.
