The Katsina State Police Command in collaboration with the Military succeeded in repelling coordinated attacks by bandits on a revenge mission on Tsaskiya Community of Safana Local Government Area of the state.

It was learnt that the bandits, numbering over 200 and armed with sophisticated weapons such as General Purpose Machine Guns and AK 47 rifles, stormed the town on Tuesday at about 4am shooting sporadically.

They scaled the three entry security barricades of the village to gain access.

The spokesman of the Katsina State Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, said on the spur of the moment, the teams engaged the hoodlums into a gun duel, leading to the killing of five of them, while many escaped with gunshot wounds.

Isah said on the other hand, the hoodlums shot and killed one Rabe Bala, 30, a lunatic, from the village.

He stated that the hoodlums while on their way out kidnapped three women who ran into a nearby bush path for safety.

He also said search parties are still combing the nearby bushes with a view to recovering more dead bodies or arrest the injured bandits.

Isah added that investigation was ongoing.
