Former governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Abdulahi Adamu on Thursday dispelled media report that Senators of All Progressive Congress (APC) may disregard party leadership on zoning of Senate positions.
Senator Adamu, who spoke with newsmen in Abuja also added that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is under siege, noting that there was no way PDP senators, could outsmart the APC senators on the Senate Presidency.
The former governor who said that the party is yet to zone any seat in the National Assembly boasted that what happened in the House of Representatives in 2011 where some lawmakers moved against party resolution on leadership seats cannot happen in the Senate.
Senator Adamu said, “This is the party that is not more than one and half year old and face elections and defeated a party that has been on ground for 16 years, we cannot pretend that all is well with this victory because this is a disciplined party. We will take legitimate decision from the party leadership. The party is yet to make decision on power sharing formula whether in National Assembly or Executive.
“We are one and anybody who tells you that is going to do anti-party is lying, we are waiting for our party and party’s decision is final. The party is going to decide which zone take a particular seat either in National Assembly or Executives, we will be loyal party men and we will toe the line of our party and the position of our President-elect, there will be nothing like what happened in the House of Representatives in 2011.
“The Senate is not like House of Representatives there is a quality representative and you cannot easily do what happened in House of Representatives, it is not going to be easy.
“We do appreciate that PDP is under siege, mental siege, they have that feeling, the believe that they are 49, they may attract some APC senators with some juicy committee chairmen and that is corruption and that is what top the agenda of our party to fight corruption, they hope to do so, so that they will have simple majority. They are also plotting that APC will come with two or three candidates, that the APC senators will not be united.
“They hope that if two APC senators are nominated somebody will just spring a surprise and nominate a PDP senator, we are not zombies.”
