The President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Thursday reshuffled the Senate Standing Committees.
Saraki appointed Senator Kabiru Marafa as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Oil (Downstream Petroleum), Senator Oluremi Tinubu as Chairman on Senate Committee on the Environment and Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi as the Chairman, Senate Committee on National Identity.
Saraki made the announcement toward the end of plenary.
Others announced as chairmen were Senator Daura Tijani for the Committee on Federal Character, Babajide Omoworare was moved from Rules and Business to Legislative Compliance and Senator Binta Masi-Garaba was moved from Tertiary Education to Women Affairs.
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe emerged the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Power, while Senator Adamu Aliero is to oversee Aviation.
The Senate Committee on Procurement is now headed by Senator Joshua Dariye.
The decision to rejig the sStanding Committee might be sequel to the report submitted by Senator James Manager’s adhoc Peace Committee to resolve the crisis in the Senate.
